FireBox II modding
September 28th, 2008 | by chadh |I’ve been playing around with modding FireBox II’s to run m0n0wall. With some help from chris @ ls-net page on what he did, and a bit of past experience of installing m0n0wall on various other pc’s I was able to mod 5 old FireBox II’s to run m0n0wall (older version, to fit on the 8mb internal flash drive), without having to leave in my CF card & adapter.. I’ve been running my first one that I’ve done now for quite a few months now. I modded my first one to have an externally powered 120mm fan (the two internal fans was NOISY! – bad bearings likely). I had to power it externally as the only other 120mm fan I could find at the time did not seem to want to run off of the 5v supplied power for the internal fans. I’ve since found that all my other 120mm fans run fine from that, abliet at a lower speed (which is great!).. I’m trying to figure out how to use a few plug-ins with wordpress to link to my google picasa album, but here’s a link to that album
